Notes
During the last three years, Bob Wilson and I have been working together on this new theatre project, Monsters of Grace.
Since Einstein on the Beach in 1976, we have met up on various occasions to create a new piece of work but unlike previous projects, with this piece we have had a genuine opportunity to sit down together and plunge ourselves into a new world of ideas.
Of course, the image, the music and the structure were the starting points for our work. Moreover, we are now facing the challenge of new technology and its impact on a developing artistic vision.
It would be fair to say that, as is the case with any project in the pipeline, the process is still very fluid, hard to pin down, and full of surprises for both of us.
Philip Glass
- My aim is not to give you enigmas to resolve,
Merely pictures to listen to.......
Visit our opera as you would a museum,
Appreciate the colour of the apple,
The line of the dress,
The glow of the light,
When you go to the park, you look at the scenery...
You watch the clouds pass.
Look at the music,
Listen to the pictures.
Robert Wilson.
